Who We Are
Fence Company Jackson TN is Greg and a local crew. We build and repair fences and gates for homes, farms, and small businesses in Jackson and the counties around it. No franchise office, no call center, no rotating subcontractors. The person who walks your property is the person running the job.
We work in West Tennessee because we are from West Tennessee, and that matters more on a fence job than people expect. The uplands here are capped in wind-blown loess, silt rather than the rock they hit east of us. It digs easy and it also moves when it gets saturated, so post depth, hole diameter, and how the concrete is crowned to shed water are the difference between a fence that stays plumb and one that leans by the second wet winter. Add the wind. Jackson has been through strong tornadoes more than once, and solid privacy panels catch every bit of a straight-line gust. We brace for that instead of pretending the weather here is gentle.
We also read the rules before we quote. The City of Jackson requires a fence permit and wants a certified boundary survey or a signed neighbor agreement with the application. The city limits anything that blocks sight above two and a half feet in a required front yard, and both the city and unincorporated Madison County have sight-triangle rules on corner lots. In the county, a standard residential fence seven feet or under does not need a building permit. Knowing that on the front end is the reason to hire somebody local. How a Job Actually Runs
Six steps, in this order, whether it is eighty feet of privacy fence or half a mile of field fence.
We walk the property
On site, with you, not from a satellite photo. We find the corners, see where the ground falls and where water stands, mark gate openings, and talk about what the fence has to do. This is where material gets decided, and where we tell you if what you are picturing is going to fight your lot.
You get a written quote
One sheet, on paper, naming the material, the post spacing and setting method, the gate hardware, and the labor. If you want two materials priced, we price two. Nothing shows up on the invoice later that was not on that sheet.
We call 811 and pull the permit
Tennessee law requires at least three full business days of notice to Tennessee 811 before any digging, hand tools included, and locators then have seventy-two hours to mark. Locate tickets are good for fifteen days. We also handle the city fence permit where one applies. This is the part of the calendar nobody likes, and skipping it is how underground lines get cut.
We set posts
Layout string first, then holes. Corner, end, and gate posts go deeper and heavier than line posts, because those are the ones carrying load. Concrete gets crowned at the top so water runs off the post instead of pooling against it. Then the posts cure before anything hangs on them.
We hang panels and gates
Rails, boards or panels, caps, then gates. Boards stay up off the dirt so they are not wicking moisture all summer. On privacy fencing the finished side faces your neighbor and the street, the way the Jackson ordinance reads. Gates get hung last and adjusted until they swing and latch right with the fence built around them.
We clean up
Old fence, spoil from the holes, offcuts, and packaging all leave with us. We rake the line and walk it with you before we go. If something needs adjusting after a few weeks of weather, call and we will come look at it.
What We Will Not Do
Plenty of fence companies are fine. A few habits in this trade are not, and it is easier to tell you up front where we stand.
- No pressure. You get the quote and you get time to think about it. Nobody calls you three times that week, and there is no discount that evaporates at midnight.
- No bait pricing. We do not quote a low number over the phone and then discover problems once the posts are in the ground. If we cannot give you a real number without seeing the property, we will say that instead of making one up.
- No numbers we cannot back up. There is a lot of confident nonsense online about Jackson fence height limits and frost depth. Neither the city nor the county publishes a single side or rear yard height maximum, so we will not invent one. Where the answer is "call the Planning office," that is what we tell you.
- No upselling a replacement you do not need. If a post reset and a few boards will hold, that is the quote you get, even though a full replacement pays us better. The repair or replace guide shows how we make that call.
- No skipping the locate. If somebody offers to set posts on your property tomorrow, they did not call 811.
- No work we are not set up for. Fences and gates. That is the list.

Questions People Ask Before Hiring Us
Who shows up to the estimate?
+Greg. Not a salesman with a tablet and a commission target. The point of the visit is to look at your ground and your corners and give you a number you can hold us to, which means the person doing the looking needs to be the person doing the building.
Do you do commercial work?
+Yes. Commercial fencing for small businesses, storage yards, and equipment lots is normal work for us, usually chain link or ornamental metal with a gate that has to take daily traffic. Larger sites we will look at and tell you honestly whether we are the right crew for it.
Will you repair a fence somebody else built?
+All the time. A fence does not have to be ours for us to work on it, and repair on somebody else's build is normal work. We will match the existing material as closely as it can be matched and tell you where the original build is going to keep causing trouble, whether or not you hire us to fix that part.
How far out are you booked?
+It moves with the season, and weather here moves it more than the schedule does. Spring and fall are the busy end of the year in this trade, and a wet stretch stops post work cold because silty ground will not hold a hole when it is saturated.
